Week 15

Today we learned about the IPad, Windows Movie Maker, and Flip Cameras

What I learned about the technology was the IPad could be used like a laptop or used with a pen and you handwrite out what you want to say and it puts it into print. Windows Movie Maker can be tricky and the one that we were using stopped responding and closed out and we had to restart all over again. The Flip Camera can pick up sound and can record what is going on in one area. Also using Windows Movie Maker and the Flip Camera we put together a video promoting Owens Community College’s Business Department.

How can it be used or is being used in your academic or personal life? The IPad I could handwrite out my assignment and then they would print in regular type. Windows Movie Maker can make movies out of pictures and videos that you create using a Flip Camera. The Flip Camera can be used to record video and sound that you would like to record and make a movie out of.

How can it be used in your intended career or job? The IPad would make it so I could take notes faster and then print them without having to type them over again. Windows Movie Maker I could make videos promoting either products or other departments where I may work. The Flip Camera can make it easier to record what I want to put in the video promoting the product or other departments.

What work will I do before next class? I will practice for the presentation on Monday.

Week 14

What we did today in class was adobe X pro and IPad.

What I learned about the technology I learned that adobe allows you to put stuff on the web so that others cannot make changes they can comment but they cannot make any changes to the document. The IPad I learned could be fun. The only problem with the IPad is that you have to look hard to find certain buttons that on a laptop or regular computer is right in front of you.

How can it be used or is being used in your academic or personal life? Adobe could be helpful with putting my resume out there to future employers so that no one can change any of my information. The IPad could be of use to take notes in class or even record notes for classes so that I could pay more attention.

How can it be used in your intended career or job? Adobe can make it so we can send files to one another. The IPad could record meeting so that I could play them back and know exactly what was said at a meeting.

What work will you complete before next class? I will submit this blog, I will do the prep for next week’s rotation, and I will rewrite my podcast #3 script.

Week 13

Today we used the notebooks, Google docs, open doc, Skype and webcams

What I learned about the technology on the notebooks we used the Google docs they were hard to save on the notebooks to our flash drives, we also used open doc on the notebooks they were easier to use than the Google docs. We did not get the opportunity to do the Skype with the instructor. We are doing it next week with the other group.

How can these be used or is being used in my academic or personal life? Well the open docs I may use more than the Google docs if I did not already have Microsoft word installed on my laptop. I do not see myself going out to buy a notebook when I have a laptop already. I would use the open docs just as I would the regular Microsoft office things. I use Skype when I communicate with my husband.

How can it be used in your intended career or job? Well I may use the open docs to prepare files and documents if Microsoft office is not on any computer that I may use at the job site. If they have a notebook I really do not like using the notebooks I am much happier using my laptop I prefer it over the notebooks. I may use Skype to do meetings when travel is not possible.

What work will you do before the next class? I will post this blog, prep for rotation for next week and do the survey that my group created in class today.

Week 12

Today we used Adobe Photoshop, and the Wacom tablet.

What I learned about the technology was how to layer things in Adobe Photoshop. I used the Wacom tablet to erase the background on one of my pictures that I used in my Decade project.

How can it be used or is being used in your academic or personal life is that I can use Adobe Photoshop for my whole Decade project. I can use the Wacom tablet to get in close to the objects that I want to cut out of the picture.

How can it be used in my intended career or job:  I can use Adobe Photoshop when putting together flyers or something similar to distribute to people.

What work will I do before the next class? I will post this blog, I will do the Photoshop test, I will prepare for week 2’s rotation, and I will finish the commercial for my decade project.

Week 11

Today we covered the Wacom tablet and Adobe placing layers

What I learned about the technology was that the Wacom tablet is just like a mouse. And Adobe placing layers was that you can place layers in adobe so that the other layers are not harmed when you are editing something else.

How can it be used or is being used in my academic or personal life. Well I do not see myself personally using a Wacom Tablet but Adobe can help me create a college of the different photos that I have on my computer.

How can it be used in my intended career or job it can be used in my intended career or job buy making it so I can cut close to pictures to get rid of stuff that I do not want? And Adobe can help me place photos in collages.

What work will I do before next class I will post this blog, get the rocker assignment done and upload it, I will get the computer equipment project done and upload it, I will start to work on my decades project.

Week 10

Today we covered Adobe Photoshop.

What I learned about the technology was that you can edited photo’s further and even shrink their size down farther using Adobe Photoshop. I also learned how to feather a border for a picture.

How can it be used or is being used in my academic or personal life I can use this to fix some of my photo’s that I have on  the computer that need to be shank down in size.

How it can be used in my intended career or job I could you it to fix photo’s for PowerPoint presentations to make the photo’s better in quality or even use it to fix photo’s for advertisements.

What work will I do before next class? I will do  my tweet, I will do lab 1 and 2 for chapter 1 in Adobe Photoshop. I will also post this blog.

Week 9

Today we covered Scanning and Adobe.

What I learned about the technology was that you may have to scan a document more than once to get it right. Adobe I learned about the various buttons on the screen when you start an adobe project.

How can these be used in my academic or personal life scanning I use it to scan various things into the computer. It saves me from having several papers lying around. Adobe I have not really used in either my academic or personal life I could use it though to fix some of my pictures.

How can it be used in my intended career or job I can use scanning to scan something to send to someone else through e-mail or even instant messenger. Adobe I can clean up pictures and make them so that I can use them for reports.,

What work will you do before the next class I will post this blog and find my pictures and famous quote from the 1970s.

Week 8

Today we talked about Skype, scanning, Jing, and webcams.

What I learned about the technology was that with Skype you can run into all kinds of various problems. You have to test it first to make sure that it works. Scanning how to scan a document the proper way. Jing how to make a video of what is on your screen. Webcams how they work, why people use them.

How can this be used or is being used in my academic or personal life. Well Skype I really do not see myself using in my personal life at all. Academically I may use it to communicate with other students in my class. Scanning this I use rather frequently at home to scan various things into my computer. I can see myself using it also to scan things in for school if it was not already online. Jing this one is another one that I really do not see myself using personally. Academically maybe to show my teacher what screen I get but other than that I really do not see a use for it. Webcams this I do use in my personal life I use mine through yahoo so my husband can see me. Academically I really do not know how you would use a webcam other than to show someone what you have done or are doing.

How can it be used in your intended career or job? Skype can be used if we have to have a meeting with another office and they are really far away. Scanning, scanning a form into the computer after someone has filed it out, or scanning a blank form into the computer to make it available on the internet. Scanning stuff into the computer makes it so that the need for a paper trail is not needed. Jing this one can be used to show someone how to do something that they may not know how to do. Webcams this may be used so your boss can see you working or so the other office can see you.

Week 7

Today we covered Flip Camera and Windows movie Maker.

What I learned about the technology was how to use a flip camera and what one was. I learned how to add music and title slides to the windows movie maker. I enjoyed working with both.

How can it be used or is being used in my academic or personal life. I can use the movie maker in my personal life to create little videos for Tara using her pictures. The flip camera I could record her doing different things and make that into a movie as well for her.

How can it be used in my intended career or job I can use it in my job to show someone how to do a task that they may not know how to do. I can use windows movie maker to put it into a short movie so others in the company can view it.

What work will I do before the next class? I will practice the Jing video and finish the Jing storyboard, I will get the webcam comparison table assignment done, and I will create a Skype account.

week 6

We learned about Flip Camera’s, windows movie maker, and OneNote

What I learned about the Technology was that flip cameras can help you show how something is done when you do not have a webcam. Window’s movie maker lets you put a movie together, and OneNote helps you keep the entire document you may need for something important in one spot.

How can it be used or is being used in your academic or personal life the flip camera can help you show someone who has no clue how to do something show them the way to do it. Windows movie maker allows you to make the show into a movie so that everyone can see how to do it. OneNote allows you to send the documents that are needed by another person in the office to them without having to find the real file and then taking it to them, I use OneNote for school it helps me keep all of my school papers in one spot.

How can it be used in your intended career or job? The flip camera can show someone in your office the correct way to use office or the correct way to use a copy machine. Windows movie maker can make it so that you can put the movie into a video so that everyone can see the proper way to use the equipment. OneNote can be used to send files that are needed elsewhere in the office to that location easily.

What work will you do before the next class? I will get the movie of the proper keyboarding technique done and ready to be uploaded, I will get my tweet done, I will get week 7’s blog done, I will practice for my Jing video, and I will find out about webcams, I will set up a Skype account.   

week 5

What I learned about the Technology was that OneNote can help you keep everything in one spot for all of your classes. It can also help you get things straight for classes so you are not fishing for notes on notebook paper you can go and find it very easily.

How it can be used or is being used in your academic or personal life? I actually have been using it since last quarter. I have a separate notebook for my classes and then one to keep all my bills so I am not playing such and find all of my bills are scanned into the desktop and then placed in the appropriate file folder and then attached to the one note section and tab that matches up to what the bill is for. It eliminates the need for trying to find the bill I can print the bill right from the desktop and send it in with the payment.

How it can be used in your intended career or job? I can use OneNote to keep track of meeting minutes. My bosses work schedule meetings that are yearly or even monthly.

What work will you do before next class? I will post this blog, finish the OneNote workbook for the in-class assignment, finish OneNote workbook 1b, and do OneNote project 1c.

Week 4

Today we learned about: twitter, podcasting, one note, and adobe acrobat.

What I learned about the technology twitter- hashtags, podcasting- recording our 3-5 minute introduction about ourselves, one note-exploring OneNote learning where everything is. Adobe-learned different items and commands.

How it can be used or is being used in your academic or personal life? Twitter- tweeting about different things for assignments or even to help others in the office. Podcasting that can be used to record classes or even meetings in the office. OneNote that can be used to put all of the assignments for classes in one spot I currently use it this way. In the office it can hold the meeting minutes. Adobe when you have to post something and you do not want someone messing with it you can save it as pdf and adobe opens it.

How can it be used in your intended career or job? Twitter can be to help someone in the office with a project and you found a website that might help them. Podcasting can be used to help you practice a tricky presentation that you have to give. One note can be used to help keep all of the different websites for the presentation in one spot so you do not have to dig for the website again. Adobe can help you be able to put the report on the web for others to be able to read.

What work will you do before the next class? I will complete my 3-5 min script on my favorite book/movie. I will also complete pages 1-9 in the OneNote book. I will also tweet about OneNote.

Week 3

Today we learned more about Podcasting, Linkedin and the digital camera.
What I learned about the technology was that when you do a podcast it has to be absolutely quiet, it picks up every little noise. Linkedin I learned that some of the information that they ask you to fill out on it is not really required, or is stuff that they do not need to know. For the digital camera I learned that the one we have in class you have to push the button down and hold it down for it to take the picture.

How it can be used or is being used in you academic or personal life? Podcasting gets your voice out there for potential employers to hear. Linkedin is a professional website that helps you get jobs you can post your resume on it and people can contact you regarding various positions that they may have available. A digital camera lets you take pictures and see them right away and you can delete any that you do not like.

How can it be used in your intended career or job? Podcasting you can recording meetings so that you can type the minutes up later. Linkedin can help you get a better position in your office or in another office. Digital cameras can be used to take pictures of everyone around the office so you have a face to go with the name.

What work will you do before next class? I will post this blog, do my tweet, post my resume on linkedin, finish my podcast script for the 3-5 minute podcast recording and I will read pages 1-23 in my one note book.

Week 2

Today we talked about blogging, Twitter, podcasting and linkedin
What i learned about the technology?
The privacy settings on both Twitter and blogging. We played with the podcasting equipment so that next class we can record. We also are to create accounts on linkedin.
How can it be used or is being used in your academic or personal life?
How it can be used in my academic or personal life is that by blogging we are letting everyone know what we are learning in class each week. Twitter we can use to follow classmates even after class is done. Podcasting that is recording our voice for prospective employers to listen to. Linked in is a professional social networking site that allows us to post our resumes and lets potential employers check them out.
How can it be used in your intended career or job?
We can use twitter to inform each other about the things going on in the office. Linked in can be used to help us advance in our jobs, in various ways.
What work will you do before the next class?
I will make sure I can get into my linked in account. I will tweet about twitter, social networks, blogging, or podcasting.

week 1

What I learned about the technology, I learned about Wordle, blogs. Wordle can be used when you are brainstorming a topic for a report, a presentation, or even just for fun. Blogs are used to let others know what you are doing, or feeling. For the purpose of my blogs it will be letting you know what we learned in OAD 220.
How can it be used or is being used in your academic or personal life? Wordle can be used when you are brainstorming when doing a report, a presentation or anything similar to that. You can also use wordle for advertising purposes. Blogs let you also get the word out via the internet. Blogs are like journals or diaries the only difference is that everyone can read them not just you so be careful what you put in them.
How can it be used in your intended career or job? Wordle can help me prepare for a report, presentation that I need to get done for work. Blogs can help me inform my co-workers of things that are needed for various projects or even other activities on the job.
What work will I do before the next class? I will get the blog done, respond to my teachers blog, and I will also get my script wrote for the podcasting that we are doing in class next week.
